Updated August 22, 2006 FDFC Music Department Mission Statement
Our purpose is to unite the diverse voices of FDFC in worship, encouraging a focal center in Christ whom we regard worthy of our praise. This music department is an accumulation of vocal and instrumental leaders who feel inspired to use their abilities to encourage people in worship. The music leadership teams change every week of the month, establishing a variety to the influences and styles of each Sunday. Our current ensembles include:
All ensembles are open for enrollment by conversation with the music director. Genre: In education we believe that every student learns differently. In music we believe every person worships differently. Some people struggle with hymns because there is so much information and verbose language contained in one song that it flies by without any cognition. In the same way, many struggle with the newer songs because they follow lines of simple phrases, easy affirmation, and repetition. Our primary objective is to reach a common voice of praise from the community of First Denver Friends Church to God. Therefore, we attempt to prepare worship that connects with each attendee in at least some point during the service. Some weeks there may be more hymns, some weeks there may be more choruses and modern music. "If all experienced God in the same way and returned Him an identical worship, the song of the Church triumphant would have no symphony, it would be like an orchestra in which all the instruments played the same note." - C.S. Lewis |
